Hymns of Praise are directed to praise God for Who He is.
Thanksgiving Psalms focus on proclaiming praise to God for what He has done.

This Thanksgiving praise could be...
- Declarative: Focused on something specific God has done.
- Descriptive: General praise for the character or attributes of God. (Even simply acknowledging that God's goodness is a blessing in my life.)

IV. Why do we need to engage in Psalms of Thanksgiving?
a. Failure to recognize the good God is doing for us can result in pity for ourselves.
b. Failure to recognize the good God is doing for us can result in our taking the credit for any good that occurs.
 
SOLUTIONS:
a. James 1:17 - Every good thing comes from God.
b. Romans 1:21-22 - We must pause to discover what God is doing and acknowledge Him for it.
